âDelight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heartâ (Psalm 37:4).
March has begun with a bang here on Covenant Fields farm! Today we celebrate the arrival of our very first babies of the seasonâtiny chicks breaking through their shells, and soon, piglets squealing their way into the world. Truly, this month is shaping up to be a season of abundance and joy.

It all began back in November last year. After nearly five years of prayer and waiting, God opened the door for us to receive beautiful layer hens. That promise came alive for us when He revealed the right supplier at just the right time. But as always, His plans were greater than ours. Little did we know, a small hole in the fence would allow a pig in heat to slip throughâand now, we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of piglets in just two weeks!
Meanwhile, one of our hens decided to go broody. Sheâs a first-time momma, and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to let her nurture her chicks while we also experiment with crossbreeding. So far, weâve had one successful hatch, another chick busy making its way out, and two more eggs still to hatch. Sadly, one egg did not produce life, but we continue to pray over the remaining three. Even in loss, we trust Godâs timing and His gift of life.

And thatâs not all! Since purebred layer roosters are so hard to find, we placed our broiler roo with the layer hens to create our own dual-purpose breed. We collected 53 eggs to incubate, and they are expected to hatch around the same time our piggy is due to farrow. We are nervous about the genetic results, but we know that each chick is a blessing.
So here we are, standing at the threshold of a busy, joy-filled season. Our hands will be full, but so will our hearts. We see Godâs fingerprints in every detailâfrom the hens we prayed for, to the piglet surprise, to the chicks hatching under their motherâs wings. This is the magic of new life, a reminder that God is always doing something new.
As we step into this month, we invite you to rejoice with us. Pray with us for healthy piglets, strong chicks, and wisdom as we steward these blessings. May Covenant Fields continue to be a place where faith and farming grow side by side, and where every new life points us back to the Creator of life itself.
