I recently read one of the myriad of articles attempting to debunk Jesus and His existence. The sad reality is that engaging with these individuals is often futile, as they frequently attempt to force their own logic and worldview onto others.
To Barry Goldberg: If it is your choice to believe that Jesus did not exist or was not the Son of God, that is entirely fine with me. No matter what truth I might reveal, you would likely filter it through your own understanding and talk down to me.
I am genuinely unphased by your skepticism. While I cannot “prove” to you that Jesus existed, died for me, or was raised to sit at the right hand of God, I can tell you that He did something in my soul. What you might call a “figment of my imagination” has set things right in my broken life. It is an experience I cannot fully explain—it is a matter of faith. It is difficult to describe sight to someone who chooses to remain blind.
For me, Jesus is everything. One thing you have missed amidst the noise and “riff-raff” is the integral role of Baptism. Without this step, words remain just empty words. Once this process begins, God’s Word—whatever that may mean to you—is activated, and the truth within it becomes alive in us. This is known as the “Indwelling of the Holy Spirit.”
Before you speak arrogantly against the Holy Spirit, I must warn you, Barry, that you will have to account for those words someday. Do not speak on things you have no inkling of while standing on the fringes. If people believe in the Man who restores and changes lives, let them.
I don’t hate you, but I ask that you mind your own business.
